Duffy - Lollapalooza pics, All Points West today

photos by Bao Nguyen

Duffy @ Lollapalooza

"The one major Lolla letdown was Duffy, the 24-year-old Welsh singer who's on the cover of the new Spin. She's being hyped as the next Amy Winehouse, but Duffy's thin, shrill voice makes Ms. Winehouse sound like Aretha Franklin." [Dallas News]
Duffy is currently getting drizzled on at All Points West. More pics from her Lollapalooza show below...

live from APW - Little Brother on the Bullet Stage

Bullet Stage

Gothamist: Do you guys already have plans to do All Points West again?

All Points West organizer Paul Tollett: We would like to. Most of your work is in the first year; the heavy lifting. So if you can get it going that's exciting. But the future is unwritten.

Bao sent the above pic of Little Brother performing on the Bullet Stage, right before The Go! Team went on the Blue Comet stage (around 2:20) - not long after he got off the ferry.

You can see a bigger version of the picture HERE.

A list of things you're allowed to bring to APW is below...

The Police (last show ever) @ MSG - videos, setlist, NYPD

words by Nick Masi

photo from the Jones Beach show (more by Eric Townsend)
The Police

The Police played what was being billed as their final concert ever last night at Madison Square Garden (August 7, 2008). The 150th show of their reunion tour, which started in 2007, wrapped up at New York City's famed arena.

They opened with a cover of Cream's "Sunshine Of Your Love," and then went into their own catalog...with a bang! The group brought out the NYPD marching band and had them line the front of the stage. Banging their drums in unison with Stewart Copeland, they all went into a raucous version of "Message In A Bottle." From that point on the show never slowed down. All the hits were played, except for "Spirits In The Material World"(my favorite Police song) and "Man In A Suitcase." They also covered Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" and Manfred Mann's "Do Wah Diddy," which led into their own, "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da." Sting took time out to thank his band mates for their companionship and support, even added some comic relief by saying, "The real triumph of this tour is that we haven't strangled each other."

During the encore, the video screens showed Sting backstage, shirtless, getting his full beard shaved by two women while crew members shined his shoes and Stewart kissed him! The crowd ate it up, laughing and screaming until they came back onstage. After playing "So Lonely" and a few others, The Police let the crowd know that they were officially done. They brought out a "Fat Lady" (actually not a lady) to sing (lip sync) opera on stage, which then turned into the Looney Toons theme and Porky Pig saying, "That's All Folks!" If the "Fat Lady" did indeed sing and this really was the final performance by The Police, they did it not only with energy, class and flair, but with humor.

Lots of videos and the setlist below...

Nine Inch Nails's Worcester, MA show tonight is postponed

NIN @ Lollapalooza (more by Zach Dilgard)
NIN @ Lollapalooza

We regret to announce that due to illness, the Worcester show originally scheduled for Friday, August 8th at the DCU Center has been rescheduled for November 9th. The band is sincerely sorry for the last minute announcement, but unfortunately Trent's recurring throat ailment has left him unable to perform.

All tickets purchased for the August 8th concert will be honored on the new date. For those unable to attend the rescheduled date of November 9th, a refund will be available at original point of purchase.

Note from Trent:

Hey everyone -
Just want to personally say how sorry I am to have to do this. I never take postponing a show lightly and if there were any possible way I could pull this off I would. This is a very frustrating and maddening situation for me and I appreciate your understanding. I'll make it up to you.
Thanks
TR

Deerhunter was supposed to open tonight again. Last night NIN & Deerhunter played Mohegan Sun Arena in CT. NIN's next scheduled show is in Baltimore

What you can't bring to All Points West

Solar Pavillion 2 @ All Points West in Jersey City (drape)
Pavillion @ APW

This was the 4th time SITU has done this pavillion. The extraordinary thing is that the space is different each time becasue the parts can be joined in many ways. If there are rules for making it they're rules of thumb with a healthy does intuition for structure.
One of the other times they made that pavillion was at Citysol. Below is a list of things you can't bring to All Points West:
